The Gowan Brae golf club officially opened in 1958 as a nine-hole venue. The course was expanded to 18 holes in 1962, making it one of the most demanding courses in Atlantic Canada. The architect, Mr. C.E. Robinson, succeeded in designing the course by incorporating water views from at least 14 different holes, something very rare in the business.
